They are the tiny holes in the teeth and destruction of tooth structure as a result of the acid produced by the plaque bacteria. This condition of deterioration of the teeth structure is also known as tooth decay.

1. Taking the right nutrients in your diet
One of the most important thing to overcome tooth cavity or decay is to consume the right foods with nutrients that are really healthy for your teeth. For that you need to reduce or cut the amount of processed grains and the processed sugars. The reason is that grains contains Phytic Acid which doesn’t allow you to absorb minerals that are healthy for your teeth. But if you soak and consume them, then it wil be fine for you. For the processed sugars, it also need to be avoid as they allow bad bacteria to thrive and grow causing cavities.
So, raw local honey can be consumed as they will have no negative effect for the sweetening process. You can also have fruits such as blueberries, raspberries, black grapes and apples which are really cleansing in nature and beneficial for the dental health.
If you really want to overcome cavities you must have to consume more fat soluble vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin D, K, magnesium and calcium which are extremely beneficial for overall teeth health.
2. Fluoride toothpaste
It is very much advisable to use toothpaste that have fluoride contents in it. It is one of the most useful minerals in fighting tooth decay and cavities. Fluoride has antibacterial properties which can neutralize acidity on the teeth and strengthens the teeth. It has the ability to protect the enamel of the teeth and can change the composition of the teeth thus making them stronger.
If you starts noticing caries on your teeth you can take fluoride toothpaste twice a day in the morning and before the bed with good oral hygiene by brushing, flossing and gargling. It can also be used in the form of mouthwash as well.
3. Coconut oil pulling
So, have you ever heard about oil pulling. Well, it is a very useful and effective method to take care of your teeth health whether it may be gum disease, plaque or tartar formation and cavities. If you start coconut oil pulling everyday it will start to reverse your cavity slowly day by day and finally will get the result you desire.
It is one of the most common homemade tips to handle and healing of the cavity and receding gums. Here any type of edible oils can be used, but coconut oil is the most preferred one as it has anti-inflammatory and anti microbial properties.
All you need to do is to take a tablespoon of coconut oil and rinse or swirl inside the mouth for 5-8 minutes. As the saliva and oil mixes together, the volume will eventually increase. Later on, split it afterwards.
4. Turmeric powder
Turmeric as we know has been used for ages not only for its coloring properties or in dishes but also because of its medicinal properties such as skin care, oral health and anti inflammatory in nature. Many herbal toothpaste use turmeric as its main components for brushing. It has curcumin, that not only fight bacteria but also fights gingivitis, gums disease, cavity and overall teeth health.
Take a teaspoon full of Turmeric powder and add a little less than a teaspoon of mustard oil in a glass or a cup. Now mix them together to make a paste. Apply the paste to the affected gums and teeth, keeping them for about 5 minutes which will naturally and effectively heal your gums because of its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Do this process three times a week and keep your gum disease under control.
Neem twigs or leaf extracts have been used for centuries because of its antimicrobial properties that can kill bacteria which causes cavity, gum disease and can clears away tartar accumulation. Thus, it is very advisable to use neem to fight and heal cavities.
You can either chew a neem stick or you can just brush with the neem powder with a little bit of sesame oil/coconut oil 1-2 times a day.
6. Chewing Sugar free Xylitol Gums
Xylitol, natural sugar alcohol that are found in plants, fruits and vegetables are extremely helpful for your teeth as they have anti bio-film properties which heals adhesion to the teeth.
So, if you are going to chew gums, make sure it has xylitol in it and sugar free. All you have to do is to take chewing gums which have xylitol and just chew them, that’s it, as easy as a blink of an eye!
Other natural herbs that has anti bio-films properties include rosemary, clove, garlic, thyme, oregano and cinnamon to name a few.
7. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is used as an ingredient in many toothpaste for various reasons as they are very effective in healing of cavities, gum diseases and killing of bacteria as well. They have compounds called anthraquinones, which are anti-inflammatory, antibacterial in nature. Besides teeth care, they are also widely used for skin care, canker sores, constipation, healing of wounds and many more.
For this purpose, you can directly use the fresh aloe vera gel extracted from the plant itself. Paste it onto the toothbrush and you can start brushing straight away. You can do this for 2-3 minutes once/twice a day. After that, washing the mouth thoroughly with water is needed.
